Corona!
corona! Corona! Has been the song all over the country. Nobody had heard of it
then it suddenly became the scariest virus around the whole world. Everyone is
scared of it, nobody is yet sure whether it has gotten to our country Kenya yet
even though some cases have been heard in Mombasa and Kisumu.
The government has declined this and told Kenyans that they are safe. Kenyans at the same time have been asking themselves many questions, What if people in our country get infected with the virus, is the government ready to deal with it? is the country ready to handle this tragedy or are we going to wait until it happens and the whole country will be a mess.
Well, that aside, the question here is
does everyone really know about corona? The people in the rural areas, the
people without phones and access to social media? The people in the North
Eastern parts of Kenya who are so much into their traditions and might link it
with witchcraft. What steps have the government taken to create awareness about
this virus to Kenyans?
I have personally never heard of it my entire lifetime until recently, all I know is that it is a virus that kills very fast and is contagious. Gone are the days when HIV/AIDS was the deadliest disease and the most feared disease. Nowadays there are other viruses that have become more deadly and are killing more people more than ever, one being the one we are talking about now, corona virus.
Being a person who strongly believes in God, I
believe that He is going to protect our country and our families from this
deadly virus that we know very less about. The government should also give us
an assurance that it is putting in place measures to handle this virus in case
it gets into our country.

ReplyDeleteThe government has not been able to deal with minor pandemics that affects our lives such as malaria, how will it handle, and bring to an end this Enemy of the People- CORONA VIRUS, if its citizens are infected?
ReplyDeleteIt's not our prayer as kenyas to be the victims of CV, but the government should always be on toes and have strong sure strategies that will be helpful whenever a tragedy strike out motherland country kenya.

ReplyDeleteWe tend to lack a correct channel to reach out to the public and thats the reason why the counrty can even allow the plane from china to land to our country and they dont care about what will happen simply because the information about the virus is not widely spread as it is suppose to.
